Our Garden | South Florida Lifestyle Photographer

I can’t believe it’s been SO long since I’ve made a personal post on this blog! I normally keep my personal photos, thoughts, etc, over at my “Mommy blog” Bright Autumn Sun but I took some great photos of Zachary last week as we were setting up our new garden and really wanted to share them.

I also wanted to answer the oft-asked question – What is Lifestyle Photography? Many of my clients have said it’s the kind of images that you’d see in magazines, and they’re kind of right, except magazine shots are completely staged for the purpose of the magazine’s article. Lifestyle photography is completely unstaged, unplanned, and a true representation of a great moment in your life. Yes, the concept of the shoot has some planning to it. In our case here, Adrian and I were working on our new garden, Zachary was running around playing in the yard, and I wanted to capture photos of that, so I set everything up the way I wanted it to be captured. But the laughs, the events, and the emotions that followed were all spontaneous, fun, and will make for some wonderful family memories that I going to absolutely treasure looking back on when my little boy is bigger.

That said, if you have an idea of a family event that you’d like to have captured creatively – whether it’s a small family picnic, a day at the dog park, playing in the pool or tree-house in your back yard, or anything else that you can think of, send me a message and we can plan a lifestyle session for your family!

Now, on to the photos… we had a great time planting our garden and Zachary had a great time and even helped us out a little bit (though he got VERY dirty!!!!). Our garden has tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeƱos, chives, rosemary, basil (two types), parsley, and marjoram. I also have a second tomato plant (not pictured) which I purchased a few days later from a local nursery. It’s living a cute pot on our patio getting lots of sun and has lots of cute little baby tomatoes growing on it!
