I love photographing newborns, and especially so when they are a family that I’ve been working with for years. It’s so much fun to capture my clients as their family grows. I had a wonderful morning with Franci, Tiago, their new baby Lucas, and their daughter Sofia who I also photographed as a newborn. I’ve known Jan for quite a few years now, and when she asked me to photograph her family on their visit to South Florida, I was thrilled! They live in Canada, where she owns a photography business, and since we had never met in person, it was super exciting to finally get together AND I was totally stoked to do her family portraits! I am just loving this whole session and it was too hard to narrow down my favorites so I’m showing off a bunch. We shot the session at the beach at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, which is my favorite beach location in the Ft. Lauderdale area for portraits. Hope you like these shots as much as I do! :)

A few years ago, I photographed Franci & Tiago’s maternity session as well as their newborn daughter Sofia! I was so looking forward to seeing them again to photograph their maternity session for baby #2!

Weather in South Florida is super temperamental, especially in September, when this session was scheduled (yeah… I am VERY behind on blogging!!!). I checked the forecast all day and hoped that the rain would miss us. Sadly, no amount of wishing made that happen, and we had very limited time at Sugar Sand Park, an awesome park in Boca that even had a carousel! The carousel was closed down due to the rain, so we had to find another location, fast! We worked around the challenge and headed over to Franci & Tiago’s home to do a more personal maternity shoot. I think Sofia was a little more interested in Yo Gabba Gabba than my camera at that point, but no problem – it just allowed me more time to spend with her awesome mom & dad! :)

Thrilled to share this shoot with you all! My friend Alex Fagundo of Candidly Elegant is an awesome wedding photographer, and I was honored when he asked me to photograph his family this fall! We shot down at Bayside/Bayfront Park in Miami. It was my first time shooting here, and I loved the location! There are so many different spots and interesting things to see. Alex and his wife Shaleen were so much fun, as were their two little children who are just 1 and 2 years old. It was definitely a workout keeping up with these two energetic little ones, but we had a blast — and took some great photos in the process!

I absolutely love photographing children, but realized that I haven’t done a proper photo session with my own son, Zachary, in quite a while! It was definitely time. He’s going to be three years old (!!!) in a little over a month (how did that happen?!) and he is quite a little kid now, not a baby anymore. I had to capture him at this adorable and fun stage in his life.

I took him to one of my favorite quiet little parks in Coral Springs, Orchid Park, where I’ve been shooting for about five years now. It has a great nature trail that isn’t good for younger toddlers, but is great for a walkaround with your nearly-three-year-old. Lots of weird bugs, interesting trees, and beautiful light.

Here are some of my favorite images that I captured of my sweet little boy. Huge thanks to my wonderful BFF Amy (who is Zachary’s godmother) for helping me out and being my assistant during the shoot.

It’s always fun shooting other photographer families, so I was honored to be asked to photograph my friend Stacey and her husband Gregg and their two year old son. We did their session all over the Boca Raton/Delray Beach area and had such a great time! Kids this age can sometimes be a challenge to shoot, since they are very curious, always moving, and don’t have long attention spans, but Stacey’s adorable little guy did fantastically – he is so used to being photographed by his awesome photographer mom!

I really enjoy shooting lifestyle sessions where the family is engaged and having fun together. These type of sessions work so great for young kids who just cannot stand to sit still and smile for the camera. There’s no need to force those kinds of photos when you can capture a family having fun and experiencing joy in a natural way! Those are the images you will remember forever!

Natalie and Brett are such an adorable couple! Natalie is super cute, bubbly, and excited to be a mom for the first time. Brett is just a super sweet guy and is going to be a wonderful father to his baby boy! I had the pleasure of photographing Natalie & Brett at TY Park in Hollywood for their maternity portraits. Despite the heat, we had a great time wandering around the park catching beautiful light and sweet moments between the two of them, and I’m really looking forward to the arrival of Baby Landon in just a couple of weeks!! A few months ago, I did a Little Red Riding Hood themed birthday party inspiration shoot with the ladies of One Sweet Party, Johanna and Yadira. Johanna was pregnant at the time, so I took some quick maternity shots of her with the beautiful backdrop of Long Key Nature Center in Davie behind us. What an amazing location for maternity portraits! And how cute does she look? I just adore how her yellow top stands out of the beautiful greenery of the natural area.

When Jennifer contacted me about doing some photos for her two and a half year old boy and and her six month old baby girl, I was quick to suggest one of my favorite parks here in the Ft. Lauderdale area for a fun family session. I like to capture kids and families having fun, and I am quite familiar with life with a very active toddler like this little guy!

However, since the kids were being baptized, Jennifer & her husband really wanted a photo session to signify being near the water. Also, the family is a transplant from up north, so this would be their first Florida photo session and they wanted something that really showed off Florida life – portraits by the ocean.

I am normally a bit hesitant to do beach portraits with kids this young, since sand can be messy and uncomfortable for some children, but both kids were fabulous and gave me some amazing expressions! Having children like this to photograph is the absolute BEST, because they make it easy to capture gorgeous family moments that I love!

My favorite photos are the ones where their little boy is hugging and kissing the baby. It warmed my heart the way he interacted with his sister, and makes me excited to think about giving my son a sibling someday too!

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family for a quick mini session at Liberty Tree Park in Plantation this past month – one of my favorite spots!
