As many of you know, I have been volunteering for The Heart Gallery for about 3 years now. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience to photograph foster children and know that you will be a part of their road to adoption and their forever families. I was incredibly honored when Barbara, the director of the Heart Gallery of Broward County, asked me to photograph her family this month!

She and her husband have a lovely home in the Ft. Lauderdale area, and it was the perfect backdrop for photographs of them and their daughter enjoying a lovely South Florida afternoon. Since their daughter is a senior in high school, we took the opportunity to take some senior shots of her as well. Of course, their little dog Coco had to get in on the portrait action as well! :)

I had a great time at my second photo session with the Lee Family! We shot this session at their Ft. Lauderdale home and involved everyone, including their adorable dog! I love shooting at my clients’ homes, since it really allows their personalities and interests to shine through – like the way their son was able to show off his orange tree to me.

Next up in my photographer headshot series (images from a photographer get together back in July where we all photographed each other) is the awesome Candice from Serendipity Studios. I love how the urban background of downtown lends well to the images of Candice (she made great choices as far as her attire) and we captured a wide range of emotions that are plain to see on her face with every shot – sultry, dreamy, and happy. It’s fun to experiment with capturing different types of expressions so that you have a wide variety of images to use for various situations.

Next up in my Photographer Headshot series is my buddy Laurel of Photography by Laurel Serra. Laurel is a great wedding & family photographer and it was fun to capture her adorable personality. As you can see, Laurel has extremely captivating eyes, which I consider to be one of her greatest features. When photographing headshots, I like to concentration on an aspect of my subject that will really draw in the person who is viewing the images. Even though she is known for her bubbly, funny, and sometimes sarcastic personality, you can see the depth of Laurel’s emotions just by looking into her eyes!

Downtown Ft. Lauderdale at sunset created a beautiful setting for capturing these images of lovely Laurel! :)

Here’s two more images in my photographer headshot series! If you haven’t been following, a couple of weeks ago, some photographer friends and I got together to photograph each other. It was great being on the other side of the camera. I really enjoyed photographing my friend, Freddy Rozen, who is a talented wedding and event photographer.

I really like these images because I feel like I captured who Freddy really is when I photographed him. They weren’t formal photos, in fact, we were all relaxing while waiting for our dinner to come at the Briny Irish Pub at Riverfront in Ft. Lauderdale, after having shot for a couple hours. I saw Freddy sitting across from me just relaxing and had to capture his personality in that moment, being himself. I think you can look at these photos and see what an interesting and kind person he is.

Last week, I posted about the photographer headshot get together that I had with some photographer friends a few weeks ago. I’m going to post some images from that shoot every week, as I really enjoyed capturing the headshots of my fellow photographers and loved the images that I created!

This week is Diego Carvajal from Pines Photo Studio. Diego loves shooting Bar Mitzvahs, fashion, dance, and more! I really enjoyed photographing him.

Last month, a bunch of photographer friends got together and we took photos of each other for the purpose of having new headshots. After all, what kind of photographer doesn’t have some great photos of themselves, too?

We shot in the Riverfront area of Ft. Lauderdale and had a great time experimenting with the different textures and backgrounds of the location. I want to share some of the headshots I took on my blog…. hope you enjoy them!

First up is the lovely Stephanie Sonju who is a great fashion photographer. I really enjoyed the dreamy look of these photos and the soft pink background. :)

Sorry for the recent lack of blog posts! I’ve been on vacation as well as out of town on assignment shooting a destination wedding up in New England, and forgot to schedule posts while I was away! I had such a GREAT time that I didn’t get a chance to go online to blog. So, I do have a bunch of photos to share now that I’m back in town!

First up is the lovely Siwiak family! I went to high school with Diana and we have stayed in touch ever since. In fact, back in the day when I was getting started, she was one of my first models to practice new photography techniques on as I was building my business. I was thrilled when she and her family booked a session with me so they could have some recent images taken of them with Diana’s Gramma.

The Siwiak’s are a fun and spunky family and I had such a great morning with them at Plantation’s Liberty Tree Park. The park made a beautiful background for their South Florida family portrait session. Hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!

I haven’t done a senior shoot in a while, so I was just thrilled when Joe wanted to shoot with me! I’ve actually known Joe since he was a middle schooler. Back in my teaching days, he was the student of another teacher friend of mine, so I would often see him in the halls and chat with him when I stopped by my friend’s classroom to say hi. A couple years ago he added my Facebook page as he was interested in photography, and we’ve kept in touch.

Joe is a very laid back, intelligent young man. He loves Apple products, Starbucks, his Converse and hanging out with his friends in the area he grew up in – Coral Springs & Parkland. We tried to incorporate some of his interests in the photo session by staying in the Parkland area (part of the session was photographed at the beautiful Liberty Park) and you’ll see Joe’s iPad make an appearance as well! :)

Joe, thanks so much for working with me! I had a great time photographing you, and I look forward to seeing where the world takes you! I know you’re going to do lots of amazing things! Enjoy the photos!

I worked with Mariana’s wonderful family a few years ago when her grandmother turned 90 and they planned a celebration at the Grand Bay Club in Key Biscayne to celebrate the wonderful milestone. Mariana was only 12 years old then. She turned 15 this year and wanted some amazing “rockstar” style portraits of her own to celebrate her special milestone of the “quince” birthday.

The session was photographed at the beach in beautiful Key Biscayne and then after a quick outfit change, we headed out to Miami’s famous Design District for some more fun and funky photos. Mariana brought her good friend Agi along to help out, and I was happy to capture their friendship in a few images as well. Fifteen years old is a fun time in the life of a teenage girl!!

Mariana, I hope that you and your friends & family enjoy your images! You truly do look like a rockstar! I can’t wait to show you the rest!!
